Balance and Neurologic Therapy
You will be seen by a physical therapist that specializes in treating individuals with balance problems.

Anyone with the following diagnoses may benefit from balance therapy:  dizziness, vertigo, lower limb weakness, feeling loss of balance or instability, difficulty walking, inner ear disturbances, history of falls, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, stroke, head injury, diabetic neuropathy or myopathy, cancer, degenerative neuromuscular disorders, orthopedic problems or amputations.  Balance therapy can also benefit individuals whose work or sport requires a high level of balance.  THE pt GROUP's balance and neurologic therapists evaluate and treat individuals with dizziness or balance problems.  State-of-art evaluation techniques help the therapist design an individual program to address each client's specific needs.  A variety of treatment techniques, such as hand and eye coordination, position-habituation, balance exercises, coordination activities and conditioning activities may be used to retain balance responses.  In addition, the physical therapist may make a home visit to further enhance function and determine if modifications need to be made.
Your physician can recommend you to THE pt GROUP for evaluation.  If your insurance requires a referral/authorization from a primary care physician, you will have to contact your family physician for the actual referral to the center.
Does Balance Therapy Work?
Studies have shown that balance therapy, in coordination with other medical treatment, can reduce symptoms for 85 percent of the people who seek help.  Balance therapy can reduce the risk of falling, improve general body conditioning, decrease the degree of disability and improve your ability to perform daily activities.
How Can I use THE pt GROUP Balance Therapy Services?
If you have a balance problem, begin with a visit to your family doctor.  Balance disorders can have many causes.  Your family physician, neurologist or ear, nose and throat specialist should first determine the cause of your problem.  Your physician can then recommend you to THE pt GROUP for evaluation.  If your insurance requires a referral/authorization from a primary care physician, you will have to contact your family physician for the actual referral.
